Trust The Navigator

I bet you have seen those car tags that say "God Is My Co-Pilot", or "If God Is Your Co-Pilot You Better Switch Seats" (implying He should be the pilot in our lives). I'm not knocking these quotes because they obviously mean God should direct our lives and I agree totally. I just want to look at God's guidance from another angle.

I kind of see God as the Navigator in our lives. For instance, a navigator of a ship will plot out a course for a vessel. He should offer to the pilot (helmsman) the best course to arrive at the desired destination. They may want to get to a destination quickly so they seek the fastest route. The cargo may be fragile so they may desire the smoothest route. They may be caught in a storm and want the safest way out. The navigator knows how to plot the best course in every situation.

God is the perfect Navigator for us (we are the pilot or helmsman of our own lives) to be guided by throughout our lives. He should also be the owner of our ship (our lives) as well. Even if we are believers and give Him ownership of our ship, we are still at the helm steering the ship. This means we still have to make the conscious choice to follow (obey) His recommended course. The Navigator's recommended course may not be the fastest, smoothest, or even safest route, but it will be the best course. Trust your Navigator!

Drop me a line,

Greg
